Fall Recitals – November 9 and 10
Student’s recitals are on the same day as their lessons. More details and times to come as we get closer! All students are invited to perform at the recitals. It is a very gratifying and motivating experience for our students to share their music with family and friends, and to receive applause and
encouragement from the audience!

Sign up for the Fall Band Workshop!
Music is even more fun in a group! Join other SKCMA students each week for a 1-hour coached band rehearsal and perform at the Fall Recitals. All instruments are welcome. Not sure if you’re ready for a Band Workshop? Call us!

An interview with Azi —
Why did you start taking music lessons?
Azi- My brother Solomon was learning bass and I thought it would be cool to learn guitar.
What’s your favorite song you’ve learned so far?
Azi- “Tomorrow’s Another Day” by MXPX
Do you have any future goals for your music/instrument?
Azi- Start a band and make an album or two.
Azi’s teacher Nathan Slinkard chose Azi because “He consistently practices everything assigned and I can see a real improvement due to his hard work.”

5 Tips For Memorizing Music
1. Play the piece on repeat
Listen to the music before picking up your instrument. Listen while cooking, driving, working, etc. to become familiar with it at a deeper level.
2. Study the music visually
Studying the piece visually helps you spot areas that may be difficult. Make visual cues on the music that will help you avoid mistakes.
3. Practice intentionally
Create time to do nothing but practice the piece without distraction. The more times you play it right, the more likely that version shows up when you’re under pressure.
4. Preform for a friend
Play for anyone willing to listen. Simulate what it’s like to play under more “high-stakes” conditions.
5. Put all the steps together
Continue to listen to the piece, look over the music and perform for people to strengthen your recall. Train your ears, eyes and hands together to build memory.
