Our ukulele instructors teach pop, rock, folk, and country styles. Beginners work on chords, simple songs and melodies, sight reading and theory. Each lesson will challenge you with a new technique or music theory, and ends with something fun – such as your favorite riff or song. We employ a variety of ukulele method books based on student needs and preferences, and encourage students to bring titles of their favorite songs to work on in lessons. Ages 8 – Adults

Our ukulele teachers have received their education from excellent universities such as the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, Wichita State, and Missouri State University. Our teachers bring a wealth of teaching and performing experience to their lessons. In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly and get to know each student on a personal level.
What will I learn in ukulele lessons at South Kansas City Music Academy?

Do I have to know how to read music?
No. Beginners are welcome!
Do I need to purchase a ukulele to learn the instrument?
You can borrow one of ours to use during for your first lesson, then you will need to purchase a ukulele to practice at home. We can help guide you on reputable ukulele brands for beginners.
Are there student recitals?
Absolutely! Every Spring and Fall, our students have the opportunity to perform on stage for family and friends. Unlike most of our competitors, we do not charge students a fee to perform and admission is free, so you can invite all of your family and friends.

Because we only offer lessons on a month-to-month basis, there are no large upfront payments, no complicated contracts, no annual material or performance fees, and no semester minimums.

$30/30 minutes
Lessons are available Mondays and Tuesdays, and scheduled once a week.
A one-time registration fee of $25 is due at time of registration.
